Cannot say enough good things about David and the mechanic who works for him!!We found him after we were essentially scammed by an auto shop near our house when the clutch on his JEEP failed. We went with the closest place that had the first availability, which was a huge mistake! We found out later, we were charged about 25% more than is typical for a clutch replacement and within several weeks, began having issues with the clutch again. We began to have serious concerns about the shop that did the work, so we decided to take it for a second opinion. We went with the highest rated shop within proximity of our home and ended up in the shop that David was with prior to G&A.David and the mechanic took their time going over the car and discussing with us what they thought the issue was and how to discuss with the shop to get them to fix the issue. It ended up that the first shop had installed the flywheel incorrectly. They corrected the issue but some damage had unknowingly been done. A year or so later the new clutch failed, we immediately took it to David and they replaced the clutch for 30% less than what we paid for the first clutch replacement and it now drives like a dream. I have also been bringing my truck to David since then. And then earlier this summer I began to have some issues with my truck. I called David to get my truck into the shop (still at his previous shop), but he had just had one of his mechanics retire and was booked up for several weeks. He told me to call back at the end of the week and he might be able to squeeze me in the next week. (That’s the only downside to finding an awesome shop; other people find out they are awesome too, and they stay busy, haha).I decided I wanted to have an idea of what was going on (I was still going to take to David, but I wanted a diagnostic to see if my car was even safe to drive in the meantime). So I made an appt with a highly rated auto maintenance/repair franchise, who I had gotten several positive word of mouth references about as well. After having my car for a day and a half, I was sent a report that detailed $7,000+ in repairs. Including items, like break pads and rotors, which I had done only 15 months prior. Another item they listed, was actually included under warranty that was extended by Ford due to a known issue with that transmission, but the Franchise shop didn’t tell me that; but luckily was aware of the warranty extension and looked to see if that issue was included and sure enough it was. I declined all repairs and went to pick up my truck and they charged me $100 more than they quoted me for the diagnostic.I decided I would never take my truck to ANYONE other than David (unless it’s the dealership, that is being covered by a warranty).By this point David was now with G&A, and we reached out to see if he could get my truck in to look at it (and by this point another issues had developed where my battery was being drained nightly but weren’t sure why). He got me in within 3 business days. It took them one day to diagnose it and one day to complete necessary repairs. Only two of the items that the Franchise shop had listed actually needed to be done (other than the warranty recall), which were the rear brake pads (not rotors and since I had them done with David, even though they were passed the warranty window, he got the parts covered , so I only had to pay the labor) and a coolant system flush. So of the $7,000+ repair quote from the franchise, $2,000 was covered under warranty and the two items that actually needed to be done cost me around $310 (those two items were quoted to me at $3750 from the franchise shop). David & company replaced all of my spark plugs, and found the parasitic battery drain, which was coming from a faulty switch in the gear shifter, which they also replaced, all in under $1,000.So long story short, David and his team at G&A are the most honest, trustworthy, reasonable mechanics you will find in the Farragut area!!
